PS5 Software Update
A bug that causes PlayStation 4 discs to install the incorrect version of games is going to be fixed in the most recent software update for the PlayStation 5.
A irritating bug that resulted in consoles installing PlayStation 4 versions of games even though users purchased next-generation upgrades will finally be fixed in the most recent software update for Sony’s PlayStation 5.
Version 20.02-02.50.00, according to Sony, will address a few critical bugs while being somewhat smaller than the previous version. One of the most significant fixes the update addresses is the infrequent occurrences in which “the PS4 version of a game would install from the disc after you upgraded to and installed the PS5 version.” The download not only offers the typical boost to system performance that most upgrades bring, but it also gives you the option to “select and edit video clips using Share Factory Studio from your media gallery.”
For some players, especially those who had paid for the enhancements, the problem was a major source of dissatisfaction. Some PS4 titles, like No Man’s Sky, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Watch Dogs: Legion, and most recently, God of War, have included free updates for the next generation. Conversely, other games—like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War—required the upgrades to be purchased for a nominal cost. You don’t need to download a digital version or get a new disc because the updates let gamers who have a PS4 disc copy of a game play it at its optimized PS5 settings.
Improved graphics and even the incorporation of the haptic feedback feature of the DuelSense controller are among the many improvements. However, some users would continue to install the PlayStation 4 version simply due to an annoying bug, even after they had paid for the upgrade.
Since the PS5’s release, there have been a lot of issues with the cross-generation games. Players who had installed both versions of the game may have had the console set to play the PS4 version by default due to another problem. Every app on the home screen has an option next to it called “Game Version,” which users can pick to suit their preferences. Any cross-gen gamer who owns a PS5 disc copy won’t have to worry about downloading the incorrect version; still, digital copies might have access to both, so make sure none of them are set to the incorrect version by default.
The update itself should be quite easy to do; most players just need to turn on their consoles, and as long as they have an internet connection, the download will start right away. By choosing Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Update System Software, players who believe they have not yet received the download can see if there are any updates available.
